Rules talk:Cerebrothreading

This tech sucks. Barring plot characters (who don't really earn it), I'm unaware of anyone else who's taken it. I'm looking for suggestions on ways to make it a more feasible technique while keeping the cost reasonable. Obviously, the doubling of the stamina cost for the two techniques makes it a very expensive move, and scaling that back would dramatically increase its usefulness -- and also its TD cost. Suggestions of other mitigating limits would be useful. Hroefn T 13:43, 24 September 2007 (EDT)

Yeah I was going to have my TC psion have it but when i realized how expensive it was i decided on other things. Perhaps only adding 50% to the total stamina cost instead of doubling it. that could create a cheaper alternative... Lordarikel 14:01, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
I might have eventually taken it, if I couldn't think of anything better to do... It might prove useful for someone with a split Psi/something else PL, or a character that's established enough to have enough useable techs to make it worthwhile. Psi is already pretty draining on the stamina, though. It'd be of limited use. I like the idea of lowering the stamina hit, but making the tech more costly to learn. There's also lowering the stamina hit, but limiting usage per day/fight? Lampdevil 14:45, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
Actually, the technique doesn't allow you to use any two techs -- it specifies two psionic techniques. Hroefn T 20:09, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
Yes, that occured to me RIGHT AFTER I posted my answer. Doh. But It still stands, the split PL thing. If you've got two PLs to rely on, I find that you can afford to be a little more... liberal with your stamina useage? (Oh, and I likey Kyle's mention of nominating two specific techs.) It might be worth considering allowing this to allow the character to nominate two specific psionic techs, which can subsequently be linked through the Cerebrothreading. Make it an issue of specificity, rather than frequency of use. Tiryst 20:52, 24 September 2007 (EDT)
Specificity might work. We could keep the same cost, and do away with the doubled stamina thing? Instead, you specify which two techniques you want combined, and they can be used in conjunction provided slots are available, up to two times a fight, just as the tech implies. Marcus
I've adjusted the technique based on the comments so far. Comments, please. Notably, I've removed the limitation on number of times used, under the consideration that only being able to use two specific techniques together at a time, instead of any two, should be a sufficient limit. Comments on that reasoning, as well, please. Hroefn T 01:38, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
The only issue I have now is the misspelling of "learned". :) Tiryst 01:47, 3 October 2007 (EDT)

Another thread of discussion -- should this be a signature ability of psionics, or should it be available to other power types? Multi-action techs are already available to all power types, so... yeah. Opinions? Hroefn T 23:36, 2 October 2007 (EDT)

It should be a signature ability of non-melee psions. :) Tiryst 00:50, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
