This tech needs a lot of clarification. As it is worded, it should work with any other tech that meets its requirements, yet it is listed as Active, implying that it consumes the tech action for the post. This has led to confusion for many chatters, as some believed Skill Shot to be triggered upon use of a qualifying (active) technique, others understanding that it can be used with passive techs only, and still others believing that it cannot be used with techs at all (implying that the line about tech use is a remnant of an older edition or a typo of some sort).

Additionally, how Skill Shot's bonus stacks with other bonuses is unclear, as in the case of adding Skill Shot and Weapon Proficiency bonuses together (when do things get calculated? What is virtual and what is real?).

Personally, I was of the camp that thought Skill Shot was a tech that triggers with the use of a valid tech, and have therefore been using Skill Shot with active techs that were single physical strikes. I am not sure what everyone else thought, but I know that I have seen others with my interpretation and others with the aforementioned alternate interpretations. I've revised Skill Shot to point out that it is virtual speed, not actual physical speed. (The original writing of it predated the concept of virtual speed in Alt.) I will also, at the least, be revising it to include other PL types, since it is currently marked solely as a ki technique, and should probably be rendered generic.
As to the actual operation of the technique, I've always been of the opinion that since it was marked as an Active technique, it consumed a technique action -- thus why it only costs 15 base days for something that can be a very significant boost. Of course, as it consumed a technique action, the only techniques it could possibly stack with would be passive ones, or techniques with durations that had already been activated.
That said, I'm certainly open to opinions on revisions of the technique. It's quite old, so I'm sure it could use some updating. What are people's opinions on the matter? (Do note that if you recommend a significant increase to its usefulness, the price will also rise. I'd prefer to keep it at the same price to minimize audit work, generally.) If it's going to be worth 15 base days, then it definitely should stay as an active technique action. As stated before, if the user has any passive techs, or even an active technique already in place, then Skill Shot's virtual speed could stack with these, consuming a tech action. Otherwise, the price of this technique would conceivably be increased. Marcus
