==Description==

Snipers have been a dubious but necessary profession within Cardinal's armed forces nearly since the refinement of the firearm. In powered combat, where shooting someone with even a powered gun is often little more than an annoyance rather than a life-threatening injury, it becomes all the more necessary for defenders of the nation to be able to quickly dispatch threats from a discreet distance, before they can cause further damage. This powered edition of a popular high-powered rifle is the answer to that need.

==Logistics==

The Long-Range Tactical Rifle is designed for combat at a distance. As such, the user gains benefits the further out they are. Within 200 meters, the rifle's strength is halved. Within 100 meters, the rifle grants no additional benefits.

The rifle functions as a gimme which fires the user's Natural Charge in strength, at 50% their PL in speed. When firing, the user may infuse a non-streaming ranged technique into a shot, but the rifle's speed overrides the technique's speed. The rifle may never be upgraded to fire streaming techniques or shots. When using the rifle, the user's base Charge Rate is considered to be doubled.

The first few posts spent charging multiply the base speed of the rifle. One post charging doubles the base speed; a second triples it. This does not affect any Speed Boosters purchased for ammo or techniques, only the rifle's base speed. Charging and firing the gun do not create any traceable energy signatures. If they deplete a durability source to zero, they will penetrate through the target and continue doing damage to anything in a line behind it.

The user must spend at least one post targeting the rifle before being able to fire. The user must keep the target within sight this entire post. This is a focus action.

The rifle can only hold one shot at a time, and requires a Focus action to reload. This action costs no stamina.

Base cost is 120 tech days. Discounted price is 90 (68/113) tech days.

:This makes things fired by the rifle unable to drain a target beyond 0 durability. Targets will not take more than 1 incap day and mortals/psions/mages will only be knocked out, and not killed. The shot will not penetrate the target. Can be switched on/off as a free action. - 11 (8/14) days.
