Techniques

Icon
The symbol of the patron god's dominion, which often takes the form of a gilded lance in times of war, or a chalice that constantly flows over with a strange, sparkling liquid in times of peace. The item is not "real", per se, and can be summoned or brought into a scene for free one time. After that, its physical representation can be destroyed by will of the owner, or by overcoming the owner's durability, which is linked with it. Once destroyed or dispelled, it can be resummoned by the owner for a tech action. If it is disarmed or it otherwise falls into the hands of an unauthorized person, its functionality as anything beyond its physical form will not be granted to the bearer.

Ownership of the Icon can be passed entirely from one vessel to another with the blessing of its patron god, but such a transfer takes such a tremendous toll on both the previous and new owners that both are irreversably incapped for 1 week afterward, during which time possession may not transfer again. Should the owner die or otherwise be deemed unfit for the Icon's possession, the Icon will pass itself to another owner automatically, chosen in some unfathomable way from the many other sentient beings of the universe.

As a representation of the patron god's presence on the material plane, the Icon conveys a great deal of the god's influence and power to the vessel -- the owner. Technically, this exists as a separate body of techniques exclusive to the Icon, which cost Spiritual Capital to both research and execute, as well as actions and stamina in combat situations. The owner of the Icon has full access to all of these techniques, but he or she can also, through the patron's blessing, name Scions to the Icon, who can be trained to call upon some of the Icon's powers without possessing it.

Biography

Pierre Hansford might have been a normal Human his entire life, had he not been selected by a god-like being to be its vessel. He knows not why he was selected; only that everything he once thought was important and essential to survival and success was now being supplanted by this being's agenda, and that far greater purposes than his own were being served. He only hopes -- no, prays -- that he will survive whatever the cosmos has intended for him.
