The Eternal City is the home of the angel-like race which calls itself the Celestians. Celestia itself is a large island city which hovers far above the very center of D'hennex, and whose existence has remained a secret ever since its creation.

Origins

The creation of Celestia is a mystery even to its people, as well as the origins of their own race. Many speculate that the Seraph, leader of the Eternal City, may know the specifics, but that it is a closely guarded secret not meant to be plumbed. However, the Seraph firmly assures the Celestian race that its people have been made manifest since the very inception of the southern continent, nestled safely above the strife that consumes the land on a daily basis.

Geography

Celestia hovers far above the center of the southern continent of D'hennex. It is a collection of floating landmasses, with a central island housing the actual Eternal City, and several smaller islets hovering around it.

The weather is carefully regulated in Celestia, by magics performed by many Celestians of the Third Choir. Nothing but bright and sunny days, with cool and light breezes to make them incredibly pleasant, are permanently maintained in Celestia. Most Celestians don't mind this fact, though perhaps some might become bored and irritated by the constant repetition.

The islands seem to house everything that Celestians need to survive. There are bodies of water, there are a handful of woods, groves of trees, impeccable and beautiful gardens, and many other lush comforts. The people of the Eternal City do not consume much, and their consumption is regulated as well, so their resources are renewable and not completely depleted.

The city itself may be indistinguishable from any magnificent city in any of the other human lands of D'hennex, save that Celestia is kept and maintained impeccably clean. Every building is built with light colors, whether white or light yellow stones, every street is composed of white flagstones, and beautiful sculptures, fountains, and other aesthetic constructs dot the landscape. Some might call Celestia paradise, while others would be maddened by the constant repetition and the haughtiness that the common Celestian displays. Some of the winged people themselves may become tired and edgy at being confined to the same life for eternity.

At the very center of Celestia lies a jagged and giant pillar of stone, which seems to have pierced the center island right through the middle. The pillar has been coined the Heavenly Spire, and at its top, hundreds of feet up, lies the Seraph's home. From the top of the Spire, the Seraph lords over the Eternal City, watching over the people of the floating islands and guiding them with a steady hand. This building also doubles as the headquarters for the Erelim.

Population breakdown

The denizens of the Eternal City are all power wielders. However, they only amount to a little less than one million Celestians or so. Most of them live in the city itself, though a handful of Celestians may inhabit the smaller islets surrounding the center mass of Celestia.

Present Situation

For hundreds of years, Celestia had been protected by a powerful cloak of concealment, shielding and hiding the floating. However, as of late, the Seraph has deigned it fit to remove this cloak for the very first time. The current strife in D'hennex is unavoidable, and the leader of the Eternal City has concluded that action must be taken by the Celestian race, for the very first time; for otherwise, even the floating Eternal City might be affected by the chaos inflicted upon the lower land.

The people of Celestia, of course, see this as a means to establish their superiority, as they soar down to the earth to protect and offer aid to the weaker humans. However, the chance to experience something new has been opened to them, and it is too tempting to pass up. The chance to finally leave their perfect city and experience life in other places.
