Welcome to AltWiki, the community information resource for Alternate DBZ players.

What is AltWiki?

If you have never been terribly involved in Wikipedia or any other Wiki-based website, you may be wondering just what the big deal is about this website, AltWiki -- most of the information originally loaded into it came straight off of character sheets and official web pages. This may be just another place with information on it, to you. As a matter of fact, it isn't. Why? Because this informational site lets you participate, adding your own information to the collective without the hassles of passing it through a third-party. You can even change what someone else has written -- including what staff members have written -- and replace it with what you want.

It may sound chaotic, but it works better than you might think. If someone enters false or erroneous information, the article can always be changed easily back to what it used to be, by anyone -- that's the beauty that is Wiki. Meanwhile, with everyone providing their own personal information, AltDBZ quickly becomes a much deeper, more interesting place, which belongs to the community and not just a group of staff members who made up the idea.

How do I participate?

HOW 2 RITE MSGS???!?!??!?!?

Almost any page on this site can be edited. Just go to the page you want to change, click the "edit" link at the top of the page, and go to town. Just hit "Save page" at the bottom to save whatever changes you make. Your changes take place instantly. Make sure you put something in the Summary box -- this tells people what you changed!

You can make new pages, too! All you have to do is find a red link somewhere. A red link (as opposed to a blue one) indicates that there is no page behind that link. You can even make red links yourself by editing a page and making the link yourself. If you were making a normal web page, having a link to a page that doesn't exist would be a bad thing, because then it just spits an error at you. Nobody likes errors. In Wiki, if you click a "broken" link, you are instead taken to the editing window, where you can make the page, right then and there.

When you are finished editing an existing page, be sure to fill in the "Summary" field at the bottom before you save it, and to check whether or not it was a minor edit or not (These are both unnecessary when creating a new page). Both of these things make it easier for other people to understand what you changed without having to use the site's compare revisions feature.

OMFG crazy ass Wiki code...

Ah, but usually it's just a bit more complicated than typing what you want and submitting it. Wiki has it's own little markup language to do things like make things bold and make links to places like the Main Page. You can use some HTML, if you know it, but not all HTML is allowed. Plus, some things with the system don't work as well with HTML as they do with Wiki format. For instance, if you make a link to a page in HTML, and that page moves, your link will be broken. Not so, if you had done it in Wiki code.

We have made a whole page dedicated to helping you learn the ins and outs. It's actually a little more basic than HTML, and is great for beginners. Click here to start learning! This link is also at the bottom of the editing page, called "Editing help". Look for it near your "Save page" button!

Regulations

Please remember that AltWiki is an official extension of Alternate DBZ. Therefore, behavior rules from AltDBZ and IMC carry over here. You can receive disciplinary action if you break the rules, here. If you are banned in AltDBZ, your account will be banned from here, as well.

All articles should fit within the room's IMC 16-rating. That means only moderate cursing, no explicit sexual references, and gore should be kept to a low roar. Do not bash any player or their characters. No flame wars. You guys are intelligent -- use your brains.
