I'm probably the only one complaining then. :D Mostly because this will more or less just incite people with declared villains to fight with people who they know they will win against, though there is also self-interest involved here in that it greatly limits my own DV's escape technique naturally. It almost completely negates the anti-escape tech as well, if you simply smack a villain before he or she can escape. I mean, if a character really wants to stop a villain from getting the hell out of a fight then get the anti-escape tech and do it. ur mom lawlz


Which is more annoying though, people only going into DV's they can win or DV's letting people three times their PL in to rape them for gains because they no they have a no-fail route to escape? I'm personally for a nerf, because I'm getting sick of it being pointless to go into a DV event because the DV always accomplishes his/her goal and always escapes. One particularly irritating encounter involved one of my characters striking a DV for twice his durability at twice the speed he could see, and the attack was disregarded entirely with "lol I escape now." It wasn't even mentioned in the DV's post. If squaring things up just means villains will have to be a bit smarter about how they do things, so be it. Snackycakes

If anything, the current state of the DV Escape Tech should be handled with a little more poetry and a little less 'OH KREP GOTTA RUN D:'. In your example above, the villian was struck for OMG @ WTF damage... had I been handling it, I'd have had the villain trigger the escape BUT take terrible wounds, incap the guy for however long would be appropriate, and then pitch his very bleedy self through the escape hatch. Even if the end result is mostly the same, it would likely feel a tic more satisfying for the people opposing the baddie. DVs don't exist so chatters have a scary character to throw around, and they really shouldn't exist for LOL GAINZ LOL either. It's an option that was provided with the intention of letting regular chatters keep other regular chatters amused when the staff doesn't feel like running a story for six months straight. If we have to nerf DVs to make 'em more killable/defeatable/hell even just opposable just to get things back to the way they were intended, so be it? Lampdevil 15:02, 24 February 2007 (EST)
Yeah, DVs were meant for running a little story without needing full-on plot approval stuff. I am honestly disillusioned with the entire DV concept, given the way most chatters have treated their DVs. Tiryst 13:45, 28 February 2007 (EST)
