Appearance

Soleil's appearance belies her upbrinding; she carries herself as if she were well nigh royalty. Having been molded into a lady, almost to a fault, one could scarcely believe she hails from a war-torn region of D'hennex. Nor that she can actually carry herself well in battle. Of note are her snow white hair, cloudy gray eyes, and expertly kept overall appearance.

Powers

Unbeknownst to her, Soleil is actually the result of decades of experimentation with Deschaine newborn babes. Rather than relying on conventional magics to bring forth their various glyph arcana, Soleil can simply manifest and create her glyphs at will. While this disallows her from carrying the usual destructive oomph that other mages can employ, Soleil instead combines her swordplay with her glyph summoning to make herself into a highly versatile warrior.

Biography

Soleil Deschaine is the sole heir to what she knows as the "true" Deschaine estate.

In the Demosthene Ascendancy, House Deschaine has withstood the test of time. While a seemingly noble house in all respects, in the shadows, the Deschaine bloodline had tirelessly worked for centuries in hunting down the corrupt, the undead, and the demonic with a zeal similar to that of Westphalian Redemptionists. To that end, they had researched the highly versatile glyph magics they were well known for, experimenting with new ways to employ them. Soleil is the current pinnacle of such experiments, though she herself does not know of them. As far as she knows, she was simply born with an exceedingly rare genetic trait.

Generations past, the bloodline split in two, thanks to differing philosophies. One such branch of the family wished to work in the light, defending their peers as selfless paragons instead of agents of shadow. This branch eventually emigrated north, heading in the direction of Cardinal. The true family forever considered them estranged, and severed all ties with them. Their story was only told in vague terms, as the Deschaine had no reason to seek out their northern cousins ever again.

That is until disaster befell the House. One of the very creatures they sought to subdue attacked their very home, demolishing most of their research and slaying most of the family in turn. As far as Soleil knows, she is their last survivor. And, having not the strength to avenge her family just yet, she took the most difficult decision of heading northward, hoping that perhaps she could find some allies in her separated cousins after all.
