I like the idea of a more newbie-friendly intro page, that doesn't go straight into the info repository... but that said, I rather like the current info repository. Rather than do the whole front page up from scratch, is it possible to have an intro, and then reproduce the pertinent bits of the current front page beneath it? Heya Icey. I have to say, honestly? I like the Main Page the way it is currently. Much better than a bunch of words, I've found. Maybe what you've been up to could be an intro or something? But for going to the Wiki, I find it a lot more useful the way it is. That's just my input, but yeah.--Vraeyda 02:53, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

It's fine (if a trifle disorganized) as an info dump, but not as a main homepage. A newbie to the room, when presented the AltWiki homepage as Alt's main homepage will be quite confused without direct assistance from chatters, which is unsatisfactory for IMC room homepage standards. A person who is considering joining Alt will need to know what Alt is, what it's about, and how to start down the path of joining. Then we can start presenting the encyclopedias of fluff and rules. Thus, there will be a fluff central area which will look more or less like the current AltWiki main page looks like, which you can bookmark if you choose. --Ice 00:32, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

The fluff central's not disappearing or becoming mutilated, guys ;) Just being moved to a different name. There will be a big link to it on the main page, with a healthy compliment of "HAY, LOOK AT THIS!" nearby, just as there will be for a rules central, so we don't have the official rules in a tiny link, and the Common Techs in some ambiguous location in the middle of "everything else".
If it's very important to folks to have a few popular fluff articles linked right on the front page, we can do that, but not the entire main fluff page. That would make it too busy and cluttered. --Ice 05:03, 22 May 2007 (EDT)
