East City is the urban jewel of Cardinal's Great Desert. Nestled in the fertile delta of a river flowing out of the northern mountains, and surrounded by hundreds to thousands of miles of arid landscape, East is a city largely ignored by the world at large, despite its populace of 6.5 million people. Ordinarily, it's position along the eastern ocean closest to Alaris and at the mouth of a river would give it a great deal of commercial and industrial opportunities, but because there are no civilized and maintained roads driving through the desert to Central Capital, and because the river nears no other points of interest, the city had flourished only with its own graces. Only the arrival of Empirical Industries' portal system brought any new blood to the area. Amongst its notable features are the largest military base in Cardinal, a Venice-style gondolier ferry system, and the wonderously delicious and enormous agricultural products that come forth from the immediately surrounding region.

East City is also occasionally known as Hercule City, especially amongst the fans of long-since-passed martial arts legend it was so named for, Hercule.
