Appearance

Cesto02.jpg

Cesto primarily presents himself to the world as being a normal (if good-looking) man. His blond hair is shaggy and unkempt, and it's a rare and special occasion when he shows up wearing clothes that aren't wrinkled, battered, or dirty. He's tall, standing a bit over 6 feet, with a wirey build. He's all toothy grins and fluid motions and smouldering grey eyes and purposeful staggering and stumbling.

When asleep, unconsious, or in the mood to intimidate, he reveals his true self. Being of demon blood, his eyes are naturally red, and deep red twists and sigils mark his skin. He also posesses claws on his hands and feet, and sharp fangs, along with short horns springing from his forehead. The dropping of his disguise also seems to add another inch to his height, and just a bit of muscle mass.

Powers

Cesto's power is ki-based. Being a demon, the energies that he can generate are of a negative and unholy sort. He's quite skilled at manipulating it, however, and can solidify his ki and alter its properties in useful ways. He is also quite handy with a broadsword.

Biography

Cesto was the product of a mid-ranking noblewoman's illicit affair with a dark and charming stranger. When she became pregnat shortly after her lover's departure, she wasn't particularly concerned. Her husband wasn't all that observant and she was certain that she could easily convince him that the child was his. But when the child came out with horns and red eyes, snarling like a beast, it all... went a bit awry. The doctor smashed the demonic infant's head against the wall, and ordered the midwife to dispose of the unnatural thing. The noblewoman was in little position to protest, the trauma of the birth having left her in critical condition.

As the midwife scampered away, however, she noticed that the infant was not quite dead. Stunned, yes, but still alive. That dash against the wall had done more damage to the wall than to the boy's skull. And as she held it close, he kicked and and cried... and she couldn't bring herself to kill him. Her own daughter had recently lost her husband and had miscarried, and she was hardly afraid of a baby demon...

She spirited the baby home with her, and the infant was welcomed into their tiny family. They named him Cesto, and the two women did their best to raise him well. He was a challenge (especially when he could finally walk), but his 'mother' and 'auntie' were both hedge-witches of some small power.
