Physical Appearance

Hotaru appears the typical sixteen year old, though she does engage in more than just regular exercise, so she naturally looks fit. She sports dark eyes and dark hair which falls to her lower back. Her only true striking feature is when she summons her clan's bloodline limit. Hotaru is usually seen in the company of either a sentient lion or a pair of wolves. Both seem ethereal and unable to really interact with much, and seemingly never stray far from her.

History

Hotaru was born within the Kojika clan, one of the proud yet exceedingly xenophobic and secret shinobi clans that eventually emigrated from Rangoukai to Cardinal. Growing up, Hotaru was more fixated with swordsmanship rather than most of the tricky skills that her clansmen usually utilized, and began practicing one of the deadliest sword arts from Rangoukai itself. Within her small core family, only her elder brother had awakened her clan's bloodline limit. Keisuke was the pride and joy of their home, and mostly Hotaru's personal hero. Naturally, given the dangerous work that they found themselves in, Keisuke eventually was sent in a highly risky mission with his partner, Ryuichi Suzuhara, wherein he lost his life. Moreover, as a parting gift, Keisuke gave his remaining Sharingan to Ryuichi, a rather taboo move to make. Ryuichi, after all, served as one of the bodyguards for the Yamakura clan.

The event did awaken Hotaru's own Sharingan, exacerbating her skill in kenjutsu. At the same time, Hotaru began to befriend the Kojika clan's sacred guardian spirits. Like the Yamakura, whom kept a kitsune prisoner, the Kojika likewise liked to keep a spirit of their own as a guardian of the village with their visual prowess. While the Kojika mostly used the Sharingan to control these beasts, Hotaru instead befriended them in lieu of her lost brother. Said mutual friendship eventually led both Hotaru and the spirits to a mutual conclusion: they no longer wished to be part of the clan.

Without any sort of warning, Hotaru simply disappeared from the village. Instead, she has been looking into the budding powered schools in Cardinal, looking for her own lot in life. Looking to make actual friendships and connections, and to leave the life of the shinobi, which had never truly been her thing.
