Technique Auditing

[ Back to Rules ]

The world of Alt DBZ is a dynamic one. Our rules change and grow, and what was approved in the past is not always consistent with today's rules. It is for this purpose we have the Volatility Clause as a primary portion of our rules, and it is under the authority of this rule that we retain the power to audit techniques and characters after approval, to bring them into alignment with the current ruleset.

However, as humans, we are not always aware of every exact technique and character at all times, so we have a method for those who wish to request an audit of a technique, either for themselves, or on the behalf of another chatter. We request that all those wishing to have techniques audited follow these guidelines, to ensure smooth communication.

When you have come to the conclusion that a technique needs auditing, please, first, if it does not belong to your character, then discuss it with the chatter who owns the character. It's possible that you misunderstood how the technique operates, and there is actually no cause for auditing. We also appreciate when people submit their own techs for audit, so we can discuss it directly with them immediately -- perhaps if you bring it to their attention, they will handle it themselves.

If the chatter disagrees, and you still believe that the technique requires auditing, please email your audit request to the technique email address, altdbztechs at yahoo dot com. Your email must come from the exact email account registered to you on IMC, or it may be rejected.

When you email us an audit request, please format the subject line in the following manner, filling in the variables appropriately: "Audit Request by [your IMC mun name]: [tech name to be audited] - [character in possession of the tech] belonging to [character's owner's IMC mun name]". Audits that do not follow this standardized subject line may be immediately refused -- it is important, for tracking purposes for us, that all audits have similar subject lines.

In your email, please describe, to the best of your knowledge, the exact technical details of the technique. Then, in a separate paragraph, explain why you believe this is inconsistent with the rules.

Then, send us the email. We will handle it similarly to a new tech application, with an Applications staffer searching the archives to confirm the technique's technical specifications, comparing its costing and mode of operation to the current ruleset, and generating a ruling. They may contact the owner of the technique to discuss this with them, but the name of the person submitting it will be held confidential. When the audit is complete, regardless of findings, you will be notified that it has been duly reviewed, and whether any changes were made -- although the changes may not be specified to you. Usually, a notation will be placed in the Applications section of the main page of the wiki to denote that the technique was audited if changes were actually made.

As audits can sometimes be very complicated and drawn out processes, do not expect a quick turnaround time. In some cases, literally dozens of upgrades must be tracked in addition to the base technique, further complicating the issue.
