General

Westphalia, as its name implies, is the westernmost human region in D'hennex. Once, it was the central capital for the unified An-Yneaith's religion, but ever since the fall of the Emerald Dragon, that soon changed. As it came to pass, the beliefs of An-Yneaith faded from all regions save Westphalia, whose citizens seek to preserve its tenets, among other things. Nowadays, it is something akin to a theocracy, governed strictly by the same individuals that preach their religion. It is also considered one of the friendlier human lands in the continent, often pushing for diplomatic solutions instead of outward battling, unlike some of the other regions around them.

Geography

As stated before, Westphalia stands at the western edge of D'hennex. In reality it's more of a northwestern location, considering that it's not that close to the borders of the swamp lands that are the undead's domain, the Drovinian Reaches. The name Westphalia can most likely be construed as "west plains", for during the generations when An-Yneaith was united, it stood in the western plains of D'hennex only. But, ever since the lands were divided up until the present, there have been a few changes to how far Westphalia reaches.

While not the largest human nation by far, it encompasses three distinct areas that allow it to sustain itself, and thrive in some ways. Rather than it being comprised of plains only, the reach of Westphalia has encompassed the western Vi Castis mountains and the Northwestern Shores of the continent. The plains are highly rich, allowing for a thriving agricultural system that Westphalia uses at its best. It allows them to keep their nation well fed, as well as to sell or trade their products to other nations if need be. The Northwestern Shores allow Westphalia access to the Western Sea of D'hennex, which in turn gives them additional resources. Their main source of income, as well as armaments, come from the Vi Castis mountains. They are an expansive chain, sitting on top of several lodes of ores. The mining of precious metals and gems allows Westphalia a good source of income, as well as the forging of excellent pieces of armor and good weapons.

As it stands, since Westphalia isn't that large, then the resources that it takes advantage of aren't numerous in nature. They are simply enough to allow for a comfortable life for its citizens. Hence why it hasn't expanded its reach ever since acquiring the Vi Castis mountains. In terms of its borders, the theocratic nation needs not fear attacks from the north nor west (except maybe if any enemies employ the use of ships of course), for the shores are theirs. To the east, the unusable regions of the mountains provide adequate defense against any enemies that might wish to march over them. Their southern border is the most exposed, which unfortunately also points toward he Drovinian Reaches.
