Nomenclature

The term Sororas Draconis describes a unique race created from the breeding of human women and the dragons they enslave. Through generations of such breeding, a stock altogether different from human and dragon alike has been created. These halfbreeds dedicate their compound strengths solely to the enslavement of dragons, and to the destruction of those too powerful to be enslaved or too weak to make suitable slaves or breeding stock. With the exception of those actively campaigning in mainland D’hennex, all of the Sororas Draconis reside in Kusanagi.

Physical Characteristics

Physically, Sororas Draconis are very similar to humans in appearance. Their range of size and build is typical for human women, though for unexplained reasons their typical appearance often belies their atypical abilities. Because they show no preference for the types of dragons with which they breed, save for viability through strength or rare abilities they hope for their children to inherit, their appearances otherwise have few consistencies. Skin, hair, and eye color tend to be distinguishing marks, often appearing in colors that are either rare or completely impossible for humans. Occasionally there are also small anatomical anomalies, such as extra limbs (most commonly wings and tails), eyes with ‘slit’ type pupils, fangs, scales, horns, and claws. These impurities are rare, and though tolerated, considered undesirable traits. Women possessing such characteristics are typically not allowed to breed, as their blood has been ‘overcome’ by their draconic nature and they have become too like the very beings they seek to enslave and exterminate when enslavement is not possible.

Abilities

The vast majority of the Sororas Draconis possess physical or ki power-levels. The rare few that are born with the seed of magic or the ability to control mental energies are taught powerful techniques used to subvert dragons and maintain complete control over them. As dragons support their home through the use of slave labor and provide the breeding stock for the continuation of their order, keeping them in good health is of primary concern. To that end, a process called ‘Gentling’ is used. The process is twofold, magical and psionic; through the use of magic, the dragons’ abilities are sealed away, rendering them effectively mortal. Through the use of psionics, and application of stimulus to certain parts of the brain, the dragon becomes placated and passive, receptive to the demands of its new owners. Dragons with particularly strong wills are often impossible to Gentle, and thus exterminated instead. The process is reversible as well, though no one outside of the Order of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven has discerned how, and the knowledge has not been shared for obvious reasons.

In terms of power and ability, Sororas Draconis focus their strength wholly on the killing of dragons. They are experts among experts, able to understand anatomy, behavior, strength, and weakness in their enemies. Not a single Sororas Draconis is incapable of instantly recognizing and exploiting the weaknesses of dragons, and are oftentimes able to quickly incapacitate or kill dragons of comparable strength with little effort. Many have developed even more complex techniques for when subtlety or show of force is necessary.

They offer no explanations to outsiders as to their peculiar and merciless ways, believing that no explanation is necessary.
