Full Name: Teraptus Icebreed
Age: 16
Race: Human
Birthplace: West City, Cardinal, Earth
Status: Active
Fighting Style
Unlike many power wielders, Teraptus avoids fighting, unless it is to further his research. When it is necessary, however, Teraptus's martial arts and ki wielding abilities are well-rounded, if unspectacular and vanilla. Through dedicated practice, mentorship, and experimentation, he has developed a specialization for hardening his ki outside of his body. His passion is currently invested into small-scale technology that interfaces with his ki and helps him (and perhaps, some day, other ki wielders) possess finesse that he would otherwise not be able to achieve.
Techniques
- Composer v1.0
- Composer is a small wristband computer that interfaces with Teraptus's ki and allows him to create preprogrammed, reactive shapes with his ki merely by activating it and producing solid ki from the hand the Composer is on. Only one ki object may be active at a time. At this stage in development, the only preprogrammed shape is a ribbon of variable length and one to two inches across. The ribbon is loose and pliable when wielded by Teraptus, but when foreign objects impact it, it acts as a durable solid, withstanding up to 100% KiPL in punishment before dissipating. While the ribbon can normally be dismissed and summoned at will (costs natural charge worth of stamina to summon), if it is ever unwillingly removed from Teraptus's hands, or exceeds its durability, it will vanish and cause the Composer to reboot and enter self-diagnostics temporarily, making another ribbon unavailable for 3 posts. Due to this limitation, weapon-like uses of the ribbon may be eligible for relevant weapon proficiency bonuses. If the ribbon is willingly parted with, it will remain fully effective for five posts before dissipating (without a Composer reset). If this item is not destroyed or disarmed from Teraptus, it will retain any unused durability should it be dismissed and resummoned. If the durability is completely depleted, but not if he is disarmed, he may resummon it with any amount of durability up to its maximum by investing an equal amount of stamina (as per the rules regarding the Barrier CT). If Teraptus is disarmed, the ribbon will retain any unused durability upon being resummoned.
- Strobe Belt
- This item is a belt that can be worn by anyone, and can be used by anyone with Ki. While activated (free action, no stamina), gimme aura explosions are changed. Rather than their default function of providing a single, powerful concussive pulse, they are instead sustainable for up to 3 posts (consuming a single "explosion" per post), and provide no concussive force, but instead produce a fast-flickering, massive and extremely intense spiritual aura that blinds and deadens both eyesight and ki energy detection by anyone who does not consciously avert their senses from the wearer, reducing those values by 100% of the wearer’s KiPL while exposure takes place. If a character is affected by this changed explosion, they also suffer two posts of half the effect (50% KiPL) after the original effect has stopped affecting them. If a character should somehow get affected twice by the same blindness, the lingering effect resets. Sustaining the aura explosion is considered a focus action, and the character cannot move in the duration. Allies and foes are equally affected by this technique, though only if their Total PLs are equal to or less than 150% of the user's KiPL. The belt cannot be activated or deactivated in the middle of an aura explosion, modified or otherwise.
- As a minitech-grade side effect, the wearer of this belt can also use its controls to temporarily alter the color of their ki, which can actively change according to programming – i.e. a hue-rotating rainbow effect, or a fluctuating of brightness (below blinding).

Biography
Teraptus was a normal child born to abnormal parents. His mother is a professor of metaenergy, and she pressed him to excel at school and continue his studies both on and off campus. His father was one of the impromptu martial artists of Cardinal of no real repute, always finding himself second, third, or Nth fiddle to the far more powerful and capable power wielders in the world and less than a shadow to the biggest threats that Earth has faced. Through inherent curiosity and a two-fisted education in both advanced martial arts and modern technology, Teraptus found a unique understanding of ki. During his budding teenage years, he starred in the West City Science Exposition when he created a device based on principles of ki and electricity that he pioneered, which allowed any person walking by to project a real -- if weak, small and impractical -- ki barrier using their own dormant spiritual power. Though his research into power wielding technology was nothing less than genius, he had an otherwise fairly average school life. Though he received almost top marks in his classes, it was more through determination and pressure from his mother that he managed it.
In the few short years since, he has further developed both his fighting abilities and his technological expertise. He continues his research under the funding of Capsule Corporation, and he is frequently found there. Teraptus also has a girlfriend whom he does not always appreciate as some think he should. Marie Yung fell in love with the young pioneer at the exposition, a product of her admiration for the power wielder community and the way Teraptus seemed to take her in his hand and make her one of them as if it was what he did casually on the weekends. She frequently helps Teraptus with his homework, and visits him when he is working at the lab. Their social and scholastic lives otherwise differ considerably, so the two are not seen together very often.
Teraptus's work has garnered the attention of more than Capsule Corporation. Dozens of power wielders, both those with and without influence, have approached him, seeking some kind of powerful tool that will help them become better than everyone else. He routinely turns them away, telling each the unfortunate truth that higher levels of spiritual power posess unique challenges to technology, and that nothing he has been able to fabricate has been able to actually amplify power. There has even been a threat on his life, causing his parents to second-guess the direction in which they drove their son, but Teraptus remains unphased by the danger. The only security step he has accepted has been the least intrusive one -- to wear the very devices he has been developing, giving him at least a significant skill advantage in most common skirmishes.
Previous Teraptus Icebreeds
Teraptus Icebreed has had three previous incarnations:
- Teraptus was a brooding ne'er-do-well who met the demoness Alisa Eclipse in virtual prison, Cardinal's first attempt to police power wielders. Alisa kidnapped him to her pocket dimension, tainted his soul, and made him her slave. Since she was his only real contact of consequence, nobody really noticed.
- Teraptus was a mysterious martial artist who toured Cardinal, seeking to teach random youths on the street to harness their dormant ki. He participated in a Tenkaichi Budoukai, in which he participated so poorly that Alothin gave him a consolation prize for perservering. He faded into obscurity after that.
- Most recently, Teraptus was a teenage rogue living in the wastelands of Azshar. He became acquainted with a couple of visiting power wielders (I forget which ones) and helped them navigate the "capital" city of the desert. Once the power wielders left, Teraptus didn't enter the spotlight again and so he was retired.
